Sunday School at Hope Lutheran Church
Our Sunday School program focuses on the teachings of the Bible and the life of Jesus in a fun and engaging learning environment.
2nd and 4th Sundays of the Month
Our Sunday School classes are held on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. Children ages preschool-5th grade are invited to begin worship with their families and are dismissed to Sunday School following the children’s sermon. Families can meet their children in the fellowship hall at the end of worship.
Sunday School in April
Sunday school will meet on April 14th and April 28th this month. Children will continue learning about the events following the resurrection of Jesus.
Winter 2024 Sunday School Update
Sunday School classes recently discussed Bible stories about the blind. The younger class learned what it might be like to be blind by feeling objects in a bag and guessing what the objects were. They then learned the Bible story about the blind beggar that Jesus helped to see. The older Sunday school class learned the Bible story of Saul’s conversion from persecuting Christians to becoming a Christian. The class made a “conversion” of their own by turning cream, vanilla, and sugar into whipping cream in a bottle with A LOT of vigorous shaking!
May we always see how the works of God are displayed in us!
Recently, the youngest Sunday School class studied the parable of the Prodigal Son. The children helped make a pile of fruit and vegetable peels to begin the lesson. They learned that while one son stayed with his father to work the farm, the other son used his share of money to experience a new life. Once he spent all of his money and had nothing to even buy food the scraps of food fed to the pigs looked delicious! The children learned that like the prodigal son who returned, God loves us always – even when we have to say we’re sorry.
Our Sunday school and confirmation classes worked hard to make fresh Lenten pretzels for the congregation! The classes were reminded that the twisted shape of the pretzels resemble two arms crossed in prayer. Making these pretzels each year for over 30 years has served as a tasty reminder that Lent is a season of prayer.
